About “Cleaning Painting” and "Brush”

This exhibition is a installation piece that consists of paintings,sculptures, photos that I have worked in Thailand from 2013 to 2014.

I would like to talk about a part of these pieces,"Cleaning Painting" and photo pieces"Brush".

Having lived in Nakhon Pathom,Thailand, I have noticed little litter on the streets.

When I was looking for some interesting objects on the streets, I often saw the brooms and the dustpans.

This explains the cleanliness of the streets and the care that Thai people provide to their living environment.

One day, I was cleaning my apartment. I needed to dust out the corners of my rooms.

A regular size broom did not work well for the task. So, I started to use a paint brush instead.

This inspired me to experiment with the use of a broom, in lieu of a brush, on a canvas. Thus, it is titled “Cleaning Painting”. Here also are photo images of the brooms and dustpans that I encountered on the streets. I would like to see the canvas with the photos and the objects alongside. It is only natural to do so.

“Cleaning Painting”、 "Brush"について

この展覧会は、2013年〜2014年にかけ、タイで制作されたペインティング、彫刻、写真により構成されました。

その中の作品、“Cleaning Painting”と”Brush"(写真作品）の成り立ちについて記します。

そもそもの始まりはタイ、ナコンパトムのアパートの部屋の掃除をしていた時でした。

わたしは、小ぼうきを探していました。

というのも、部屋の角の掃きづらいところを掃除したくなったからです。

私がその時使っていたほうきは、(この国の一般的なほうきの例に漏れず)毛が柔らかく、先に向かって大きく広がる形状をした物で、部屋の角の掃除がわたしには容易ではなく、これは小ぼうきがいるぞ、と思ったのでした。

近所の商店に行ってみたところ、思い描いていた小ぼうきはみつからず、ペイント用の刷毛がいくつか置いてありました。
